Early flowering

CAPTIVATE is a perennial that comes away like an annual bred for Rust resistance and hot summers.

CAPTIVATE was developed by the ARC-Range and Forage Institute at the Cedara Centre.

High yielding, persistent plants with a low degree of rust infection were identified. Although CAPTIVATE has been registered as a hybrid ryegrass variety, it is similar to perennial ryegrass. It has early flowering, therefore the plant comes into seed in summer.

Production peaks in spring and early summer for needed grazing. As in all perennial ryegrass, production declines after the first year. Use a seed drill to stitch in 5 – 10kg/ha of seed in early autumn to maintain first year production figures. It does re-seed itself to a certain extent.
